While trying to summon Barbatos , Simon accidentally acquire the care of the Hyper - Adapter . Corrupted by the Hyper - Adapters energy , Simon became incredibly long - live , if not straight-out immortal . Hurt ’s ultimate finish for a time was to steal the Wayne folk fortune , which he failed to do in part due to a time - travel Batman . afterward Simon would work his attention to destroying Batman altogether .
Simon would eventually examine to destroy Batman through his cultus , known as the Black Glove Society . He even managed to plant a hypnotic suggestion in Batman ’s mind that would make him catatonic on activating . unluckily , Batman had contrive for such a place and alternatively of going catatonic , the Zur - En - Arrh personality would take over .
