Dior Goodjohn Talks Percy Jackson & The Olympians Season 1
Screen fustian : Your fibre as the girl of Ares is exceedingly acute , which is awesome . What was it like trying to get into that really strong-growing headspace as an actress , when you descend off as very nice and not that agency at all ?
Dior Goodjohn : Okay , I ’m going to be reliable , it was way well-fixed than it probably should have been . [ Laughs ] Slightly alarming , but get down into Clarisse - I think just knowing her front page , back page , like the back of my mitt , definitely aid . The homework I did for her unquestionably helped .
But I did have a couple song that I would mind to get myself in the mind space of Clarisse . Dior Goodjohn : Yeah , so those are my top three songs for her . Music , it puts you at a certain shakiness . And so those were definitely my big three that I used to get into her strong-growing state .
And your character has a lot of beef with Percy in the show .
Dior Goodjohn : True .
What was it like building that sort of onscreen antipathetic bully dynamical ?
Dior Goodjohn : Again , because I fuck how their history unfolded from the book of account , it was kind of just - and Walker is Percy , first of all , let me just say . That boy , on and off screen , is Percy Jackson . So he and Charlie [ Bushnell ] made it super easy to steal into type and get into it .
But I recollect , again , just know how everything plays out beforehand and see the motivations , it just makes it so much easier to get into it . It was like magic really .
And what was it like filming the infamous privy scene for episode two ?
Dior Goodjohn : It was so fun . I was so freezing cold , all day long , because I was wearing dungaree , livid jeans , so it was just wet and sticky , but it was so worth it . It put me in the character , in the vibe .
And did you get to spend any clock time with your onscreen pappa , Adam Copeland , on set ?
Dior Goodjohn : I did n’t . I did n’t even foregather him . We were on set at dissimilar times . The first time I ever come across him was on was at the premiere on the carpet , which I intend is very fitting , because Ares really does n’t even like his kids . [ Laughs ]
That ’s true , he ’s a pretty absentminded father , it ’s kind of on brand . In future episode , are there type that you ’d really like to get more onscreen fundamental interaction with , just to see their chemistry wager out a little more ?
Dior Goodjohn : frankly , with everybody . I would love to get more onscreen meter , one , with my dada , two , with Walker , with Leah [ Jeffries ] . She is such a phenomenal actress . Same thing with Aryan [ Simhadri ] and Walker . Everybody is so skilful . I ’m learn so much from each of my castmates , just watch out them work .
I ’d do it to get more scenes in with Charlie . I ’d love to get more scene with Glynn [ Turman ] - he ’s such a good Chiron - with Dionysus , with everybody . Everyone is so amazing and so in force , and they all have their own specific styles and ways of approach a aspect that I just want to sit there and watch and just soak it all up and just see what everyone ’s unconscious process is .
Yeah . And you mentioned really knowing the book well and how that was sort of help you in the general performing appendage . I ’m curious , in terminus of storyline , if there ’s a particular plotline in next books or even just a succeeding book as a whole that you would be especially emotional to see the serial publication sort of catch up to in terms of Clarisse ’s storyline .
Dior Goodjohn : I have articulate this once , and I will say it again , because I ’m run to kick the bucket on this hill : my most looked forward to - if that ’s even right grammar - one , receive that convo with my daddy , where he essentially tells me , " You ’re doing this quest , and you ’re doing it alone . Or that ’s it - you ’re done , we ’re done . " I am so , so excited to function with Adam for that . He is such a gifted actor , and I ’m so excited to see what he bring in and to ricochet off of one another . Oh my gosh , I ’m so excited for that , specifically .
And then , I ’m excited for the setting where I go Super Saiyan and I kill the drakon and I have my whole , " Ah , " minute about Silena , and I ’m just so excited . I ca n’t look .

Dior Goodjohn : It did . Our final days are upon us .
As the series has amount out week to hebdomad , what have been your favorite things to see fan react to ?
Dior Goodjohn : Honestly , my best-loved thing to see the fans doing is them complain about having to hold off a calendar week , because , female child , me too . [ Laughs ] It ’s to the point where I ’ve been forcing myself to stave in off for one or two episodes so that I can learn two back to back . It ’s like , " I ’m mightily here with you , girl . I do n’t want to wait either . But we get what we get . We do n’t get upset . "
And are there any scenes from film that really stick out to you as peculiarly difficult or funny in a behind - the - scenes sort of way ?
Dior Goodjohn : Whenever I hear the business line that Andrew [ Alvarez ] articulate , where he ’s like , " Luke is the honorable swordsman at camp , " I just remember - it ’s an ongoing joke in our group schmooze , because it claim so many take . Because all day long , Andrew would just say , after he saw that origin , he would just make the biggest joke out of it and all day long , just be like , " Luke is the strongest swordsman camp . " [ Laughs ]
And so I just ca n’t give up thinking about that whenever I hear him say that . And he ’s so odd too . Whenever he goes like , " Clarisse hunts in those forest . You know that , " he ’s just so zesty , and he ’s just funny . That ’s just one matter . Yeah .
I enjoy the idea of you guy wire having a group chat , where you ’re all together make inside jokes . Is there any other variety of joke like that that really stands out to you from this season ?
Dior Goodjohn : Let ’s see here . It ’s Aryan ’s strain too , Aryan ’s like , [ singing ] " Consensus ! " First of all , I sense like we do n’t give Aryan his efflorescence enough . That boy can sing his butt off , and I ’m not even being funny . He ’s so good . I just now require to put that out there . He ’s just astonishing , aside from all the jokes that we make .
But his Consensus song , whenever we see a video of Aryan back in the day , perform Rolling in the Deep , we ’ll be like , " Grover test to make everybody well-chosen by singing Consensus . " [ Laughs ] That ’s another jest that we have too . It ’s so suspect . And then full sidebar , not colligate to the show , but perpetually Walker is sending pictures of somber M&M to the mathematical group chat , and I just obtain that hilarious .
Oh my gosh , I know incisively the image you ’re talking about .
Dior Goodjohn : Yeah .
Just like with no context of use or anything .
Dior Goodjohn : No context in the middle of a conversation , just M&M. Yeah .

Dior Goodjohn : In mid convo . I ’ll be like , " Hey bozo , so do we need to all get on FaceTime ? " And then he ’ll be like : M&M , and leave the chat . [ Laughs ]

Dior Goodjohn : Honestly , it ’s a great way to die without arousing any suspicion .
