Stalker ’s “ old friend ” is a cagy character to the share history he has with Snake middle . In the classic G.I. Joe continuity , Stalker , Snake Eyes , and Storm Shadow all served on the same Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol in Vietnam . The characters all go their separate ways after the war , with Stalker and Snake Eyes finally joining the elect G.I. Joe organization , and Storm Shadow reluctantly join up with the terrorist Cobra brass .

The two ninja buddy had a falling out after Snake Eyes thought he witness Storm Shadow pop their master in the Arashikage ninja clan , but it did n’t take too long before both Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow reconciled after it was revealed that the killer was Zartan . Whether any of that original back - floor between Snake Eyes , Storm Shadow , and Stalker will detect its manner intothe Energon Universe remains to be see . The creators have shown a willingness to remix these classic elements into something whole different , perhaps most observable in how they impersonate Duke as an AWOL soldier being hunted by his future Joe teammate .

When Will Snake Eyes Appear in the Energon Universe?
