Jessica St. Clair Talks Night Court Season 2, Episode 6
Screen Rant : BecauseNight Courtwas such a beloved show , I ’m always curious to know if the actors were fans of the original series .
Jessica St. Clair : I was a huge fan of Night Court . I logged about 4 billion hours of television in the 80s , and it was on my rotation . I was so frantic when they were doing a reboot . Melissa Rauch , who plays Abby Stone , happens to be one of my very good friends , so I was thrilled when she told me that she was doing it . I ’m like , " Oh , this is going to be perfect , " because she ’s like the Misty Copeland of sitcoms . It was just such a joy to do it and to be on that solidifying that looks exactly like the archetype . It was like get to ill-use into a little minute of television history . Like when you go duty tour Harry Potter .
That was really pop off to be my next head — how it feel to walk into the courtroom for the first time .

Jessica St. Clair : All of us comedians grew up watching these show . I credit them for why I want to be a comic in the first spot . And the other thing that was so extra is John Larroquette . I ’m a walloping fan of his . He ’s the tallest man in the world . It was so cool to get to just be with him and interact with him off - camera and on . But also , Wendie Malick is in this episode , and to watch Wendy and John spar is literally like watching two Olympic athlete do .
Wendie Malick — dead body be bang . I ’ve never seen anyone look better in my life , so emphatically she felt dangerous around me because I was fangirling like you would not believe . It was a real master copy form watching them . John and Melissa have such an well-heeled resonance . It was just really a dreaming to find out . I felt like a gallant mama boo . When you have a best admirer , when they ’re doing something expert , you may take all the credit , and that ’s what matte up like the entire hebdomad I was there .
I had no mind that you and Melissa were so close , which makes your scenery even funnier . How is having this relationship with her in real life , while make for an almost frenemy - type dynamic onscreen ?

Night Court is a 2023 series following optimistic judge Abby Stone, daughter of the late Harry Stone, as she oversees the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court, navigating a group of quirky and skeptical colleagues, including former prosecutor Dan Fielding.
Jessica St. Clair : Melissa and I have been friend since we were like 22 years old . We also both grow up in New Jersey in very standardised townspeople , and we still see lots of masses from in high spirits school . Everyone has that high school champion that is mad . Lovably mad , but you would have unquestionably grown out of this friendship , but because of your loyalty , you keep them in your life . What ’s kind of lovely about the way of life they lick this relationship is you could have done it like they detest each other , or that Abby just hates her , and it ’s not .
They actually weirdly still work because Heather push her out of her comfort zone . Now , out of her comfort zone mean I get an unlicenced eggbeater pilot to take us on a tour of Manhattan and one of the stop is to fork over an electronic organ on meth to somebody . So that ’s a little too much , but I think at the end of the episode , they really do figure out a way to possibly proceed their friendship — if Heather can stay out of jail . That ’s a hard one for her . She really gets herself in some pickle .
I would love for the show to follow up on Heather .

Jessica St. Clair : Honestly , I think that friends like this , you ca n’t ever really ghost them because they wo n’t let you . It ’s a little bit like Fatal Attraction . I would be worried about putting too many limits on Heather because she will find her style back into your home .
Your character appear to be very unaware of Abby ’s negative opinion of her . Were you dally her as wilfully unknowledgeable , or do you think she honestly has no clew that Abby does n’t want her around ?
Jessica St. Clair : No , I think she has no idea . She , at six years old , fell into a gorilla pit at the menagerie and is experience as Baby Heather . I remember she ’s been coast on that fame for a long time . I depend she was also one of those child that was really , really cute , and everyone loved them , and she ’s sort of frozen at that historic period . Also , because she still has all of her baby tooth .

These are the sort of details that the writers ' room invest in that are so insane . The other detail I ’m obsessed with is that , on their way to high shoal commencement ceremony , she made them breach into a Krispy Kreme , and she rode the conveyor smash so that instead of getting their diploma , Abby had to chisel her out of a sugar cocoon . So this is a woman who I think is a stack of fun .
Do you reckon Heather truly enjoy Abby ’s friendship , or does she see her as someone easy to take the air over ?
Jessica St. Clair : I call back , candidly , in every just friendly relationship , there ’s an alpha and a beta . I mean that it ’s work for so long for Heather to be the one in commission . It ’s a playfulness dynamic to watch Abby get tread on , but also to watch her tolerate up for herself at the end . Melissa Rauch is as gracious as Abby Stone , and I stand for that in every common sense of the parole . I always evidence the story that , when I was run through white meat Crab , within seconds of getting diagnose , I had like 700 pounds of organic food delivered to my door .

There is literally nothing Melissa wo n’t do for her protagonist . That part of Abby ’s lineament is so based on Melissa . She does n’t let anyone walk all over her , because she ’s from New Jersey , sorry , but she is that kind . It was so fun to toy with her . We ’ve literally been doing this type of modus operandi since we were like 22 . I call her my little Polly Pocket doll because I ’m also three times taller than her . Whenever we go out to dinner , there are teenager girls taking picture of Melissa because she ’s get such overzealous Big Bang fans , but I ’m always rocking her like a trivial baby bird .
