Summary
After terrorize thePower Rangersfor closely a X under the BOOM ! studio streamer , Lord Drakkonhas finally met his demise . The malefic Tommy Oliverfrom another realness first made his on - panel introduction inMighty Morphin Power Rangers#9 back in 2016 , comply some prior vocalization - only appearances . In the prison term since , Lord Drakkon has more than proved himself asthe franchise ’s good villain .
Now , Lord Drakkon ’s reign of threat has finally come to an end inMighty Morphin Power Rangers#116 by Melissa Flores , Adam Gorham , Marco Renna , Joana Lafuente , and Ed Dukeshire . But what is less surprising than Drakkon ’s actual dying is the fact that his death arrives in a here and now of redemption for the former Green Ranger .
Drakkon has never been sympathetic , yet his death is face sombrely , and almost noble . One has to enquire if coming out of this moment , not only does this truly constitute a redemption , but if that salvation is deserved by someone as dastardly as Drakkon .

Lord Drakkon Dies to Save Kimberly
As Dark Specter , the Thanos of thePower Rangersuniverse , buildshis zombified Ranger armyduring the " Darkest Hour " result , Drakkon recruits his own Ranger team to battle him . This team is comprised of Drakkon ’s quondam enemies , includinghis former Ranger Slayer , Kimberly Hart from an alternate timeline . Kimberly herself is captured by Dark Specter and becomes the latest mind - controlled , zombified addition to his regular army . In this issue , Drakkon makes his way inside the Morphin Grid for the White Tiger Power Coin , but he is followed inside by a corrupted Kimberly .
During the fight , Drakkon attempt to talk sense into Kimberly , but she prefer Dark Specter ’s demand servitude than Drakkon ’s ill-conceived love . Their fighting reaches a zenith when she force out an arrow at him , while he simultaneously sling his Dragon Dagger at her . Her scene hits him , but his blade shoots through the arrow , stab her . She survives , and the residue on the blade is enough to break the mind - ascendancy ( similar to when Kimberly prevents Tommy from permanently die out in a similar failsafe plan duringShattered Grid ) . Drakkon is n’t so golden , and the issue ends with him break .
Did Drakkon Earn a Redemption?
His dying hits the kind of beatniks that most redemption spark seem to end on , but the lines remain murky . Drakkon ’s always been portray as someone adequate to of unspoiled and maybe someone fighting that root on to be serious than he is , but he never play on those urges long enough to truly say he ’s had a redemption arc . The word " redemption " feels loose in his case , since most of his late imposing deed were commit for selfish reason . Not to name , throughout the issue , Drakkon shows no self-reproach for past deeds and read he ’d commit the same crimes if he could .
But that ’s what makes this minute and the overall theatrical role of Drakkon so compelling . He ’s always assay so heavily to keep the bad guy act up that it ’s become mirky as far as what ’s true and what ’s an actual act . There ’s by all odds evidence to the contrary , even in this issue ’s flashbacks where Drakkon really expresses interest in the Ranger Slayer as his adequate . Because this evil Tommy is such an anomaly to other , undecomposed - natured Tommys , it ’s almost like Drakkon wants to be good , but does n’t know how . Lord Drakkon ’s redemption is arguable , but hisPower Rangersrun wo n’t be forgotten .
