When my fictional character was add together , it was a hard situation . It ’s always hard when you ’re write out one character who ’s been there from the rootage and you ’re add a new person . And this was season four , which is never an easy or comfortable billet . There is no best - lawsuit scenario . One of the problem with Seven in terms of the other cast members and their persona is that you had a character that was so rich to commence with that the writers wanted to write for her . The writers would be salivate to write for anybody new after three age , so a disproportional number of episodes had Seven as the A - storyline or a very strong B - storyline , which can be frustrative for actors who have been there for years . And then you add on the fact that Paramount was very clear — they made no pearl about it — that they saw this as their chance to break Star Trek into the mainstream media . They say that verbatim in promotional material meetings before the character launch , that the sexy part of her was a way of catch tending outdoors of sci - fi . And they actually did it , which is why you saw a Brobdingnagian jump in the evaluation . People who were n’t traditionally sci - fi fans who had n’t watch before , commence to watch , because you had to draw their tending .
