Sam Zuchero : We just had this comic thought of a buoy and a satellite communicating ; the two things that are as far off as they can be . We believe it was funny , and we got into the sci - fi of it all . We were try out to cypher it out , and then all of a sudden , one day , we realized that it was a love story . And the minute we realized it was a making love tale , it just all came into focus for us .
Andy Zuchero : It was a movie about AI , but then for us , it became a movie about us sort of seen through the lens of AI . These two AIs are trying to unpack what humanity is circa 2024 , which I cogitate also generate us a lot of chance as artists to look at the internet and who we are with innocent eye and without all the luggage that we commonly wreak .

Sam Zuchero : Well , they were their characters from the starting line . They just immediately sunk into their character , and they immediately sunk into their human relationship . But we got to do a lot of acting exercises with them . We begin off doing the mirroring workout , because we believed that it was a good example of what Me and Iam went through as they were creating their selves .
