In an exclusive interview withScreen Rantfor theMonarch : Legacy of Monstersfinale , Black explained why the fictitious character ended up in Axis Mundi instead of Hollow Earth . He discussed how they needed to be aware of the feature movie plans and how this would suit into the world of the Monsterverse before the next movie run into theater . Chris Black : I would n’t say we come into fight , but the only place where we unquestionably had some discussions was about the Hollow Earth of it all , because it is such an important storytelling stadium in the feature films . We had to be thrifty what we were doing that we were n’t step on anything they want to do or give any spoilers , because our show will have air in its totality before the raw picture comes out . They wanted to verify that we pass with that .
We made some modification in what the mankind was exit to be and what the public was going to look like . We create this specific realm that we ’re calling Axis Mundi — Matt Fraction came up with that — that is a part of , but distinct from , the Hollow Earth . That was kind of our vacation spot to play in that we felt disunite us from the feature storytelling . But I believe Hollow Earth , when you see the feature film , is a big enough [ place ] . If you look at , say , Middle Earth as an exemplar , there ’s the shire horse , there ’s Mordor . There are tons of different places within that world . So , I felt , and I think our spouse on the lineament side find that , Hollow Earth is a big enough playground for everybody .
What Axis Mundi Brings To The Monsterverse
Axis Mundi being a separate partof the Hollow Earthhas challenging implications , especially if it is an crucial part of how many of these monsters travel to the surface world . Axis Mundi also mess up with time in a way unlike from the Hollow Earth , with days in Axis Mundi being the equivalent of years on the control surface . This could be part of the account for how these ancient creatures have survive as long as they have and how they can move around across the earth so chop-chop .
